To support the expansion of Empowering Educators for Equity (E3MN) to impact student success through teacher organizing and leadership for systemic legislative and contractual changes.
Teach for America
To support TFA’s expansion into schools in the Twin Cities area. Through these placements TFA-TC will continue to build and leverage the talent, skills, and experiences of its alumni in an effort to create systems-wide reforms that will increase the educational opportunities available to low-income students and students of color.
Charter Partner Schools
“Good to Great” work which focuses on supporting and improving the academic outcomes of existing charter schools and “Charter School Incubation” work which focuses on starting up new high performing charter schools.
Hiawatha Leadership Academy
Support of HLA model expansion, building high quality instruction team and curriculum for middle school, conducting teacher and staff professional development training; and building a pipeline for future Hiawatha school leaders.
Support for raising public awareness about Minnesota’s achievement gap and the need for fundamental education reform, recruit and activate members to be education reform advocates and pass laws or enact administrative changes that secure significant education reforms.
Ready 4 K
General operating support for the first year of its merger with Resources for Child Caring (now Think Small) to sustain its work on parent empowerment, early childhood education policy change, and civic engagement.
Contract for Student Achievement (CSA)
Minneapolis League of Women Voters and Pillsbury United (fiscal agents)
CSA consists of parents and community members working to fulfill the promise of public education for every child. CSA’s five proposed reforms to the Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) contract are: 1) shift to performance-based staffing across MPS, 2) allow schools to hire from an open talent pool, 3) end forced placements of teachers in schools, 4) extend learning time for those who need it, and 5) expedite process for removing in effective teachers.
Harvest Preparatory School
$200,000 (Two-year grant)
Grant will solidify and sustain its proven and effective Harvest Prep Gap Closing Framework by conducting teacher leadership development trainings, planning and developing powerful curriculum to ensure student success, providing systematic student support, and seeking sustainable funding.
Growth & Justice
Support for its Smart Investments in Minnesota’s Students initiative that builds knowledge of how the achievement and attainment gaps jeopardize Minnesota’s long-term economic well-being and will embark outreach, communications, and research.
